Welcome to the MGR Youth Division
The purpose of the MGR Youth Division is to educate, improve, and develop the capabilities of youth members both individually and through group participation. Raising Myotonic goats and showing them encourages growth in such skills as personal responsibility, group interaction, and leadership skills.

Youth Membership
All youth can become MGR members at any age (including birth) and may maintain membership through the age of 18. For the purpose of point tabulation a youth member must have their own membership. When a youth member reaches the age of 18, they may compete for a college scholarship based upon the accumulated points for the duration of their time with the MGR. One scholarship will be available each year. Also, there will be a yearly prize to the top two youth breeders with the most points earned in one year.
An annual fee of $20.00 is required for active Youth Membership. The annual fee needs to be paid in full prior to participation and earning points in any MGR sanctioned show, MGR online event, or other events eligible for earning points. Points are only awarded to active youth members and points are not retroactive.
Youth members must agree to conform to the rules and regulations of the MGR.
Each sanctioned show within the MGR is based upon a set of MGR show rules, but each sanctioned show also has its own individual rules and youth members must agree to abide by individual show rules as well. In expectation of earning points, youth members are expected to abide by any rules and regulations set forth by shows or events held outside of the MGR.
Youth Member Expectations
MGR youth members are expected to uphold the same high level of truthfulness and ethics as their adult counterparts. Youth members need to be honest in their registration entries and their entries to MGR sanctioned shows, and online contests or events. They should also maintain this at shows or events held outside the MGR.
Competition is encouraged, but good sportsmanship is essential. Inhumane or inappropriate action towards animals by a youth exhibitor, or blatant unsportsmanlike conduct may be cause for disqualification along with forfeiture of awards and/or show points. MGR youth members are the future of not only the continuation of the MGR as a registry, but also continued show ring success and growth, plus the growth of the livestock industry in general.
